William "Handsome Billy" Lanson Mockbee, Pendleton County Kentucky
*Note: many other relatives of the Mockbee family are located in the Allender & Hampton albums.
The woman in this picture is William Mockbee's wife Jane Allender (Grandma Mockbee). She is seen here with her brothers.
"Jane was left a widow when she was 71 years of age. She then made her home with her children, doing quilting for people to give her a small income....she returned to Kentucky to make her home with her eldest daughter Oleva Ellen Mockbee Cox (of Pendleton County)." From the book: The Mockbee Family Roots in Maryland, Kentucky, and Ohio Descendants by Shirley June Mockabee Ames.
If someone out there can possitively identify each brother in the photo above, let me know. Their father, James Jackson Allender can be seen further down this page.
These are four of Jane and William Mockbee's many children. The broach that Lizzie is wearing actually belonged to Jane, and has been faithfully passed down through the family over the years.

The adult woman in this photo is another of Jane and William's children. Naomi "Oma" is seen here with her husband Ira Black and their children.
The house above is the house Naomi and Ira Black lived in for many years. I do not know exactly where this house is located, but I have heard reports that the Black family lived in Indiana. The two women in the right picture is Oleva Mockbee (Cox) and Naomi Mockbee (Black) in their old age. Oleva also was a child of Jane and William Mockbee. A younger picture of her and her husband can be seen in the Hampton album page.
James Jackson Allender. This is Jane's father. The pair of glasses he is holding in his hand have also been passed down through family.
This is the house built by James J. Allender in 1856, Pendleton County Kentucky. It has been wonderfully restored by Allender descendent Ron Woods who named it the Mary Allender house after his grandmother who was one of James' grandchildren born in the house years ago.
This is the family of George Allender in Oklahoma. George is one of Jane's brothers and should also be in the earlier picture with her. But with all those beards...who can tell? George is also of course a child of James Jackson and Mary (Stout) Allender.
